Lord, remind me how brief my time on earth will be. Remind me that my days are numbered, and that my life is fleeing away.
– Psalm 39:4

We are repeatedly reminded that life here on earth is temporary. We are considered to be foreigners where our home country is in heaven. We realize the reason why we feel discontentment, dissatisfaction, rejection, where our prayers seemed to be unanswered is because God wants us to feel that complete happiness will not be present here but only in heaven.

We are then called to place not so much importance on things that are temporary. Things which only contribute to earthly pleasures – material abundance or prosperity.

However, this does not mean that we must not work hard to earn money to survive. We are called to not to place too much attachment in to and allow our lives to be succumb by temporary pleasures.

Dearest Lord, I thank you for reminding me of the place you prepare for me. Help me Dearest God to perform the things you will for me to do. Make me a hero of your faith as you let me realize thw purpose of my life. Amen.
